LEGO® Set Condition Guide

We grade the condition of boxes for new and retired LEGO® sets using a 1–10 scale. This helps customers understand what to expect before purchasing.

The box score relates only to the condition of the outer packaging. Whether a set is factory sealed, opened or used is stated separately in each product listing. Any significant or unusual damage will also be mentioned individually.

9–10 | Collector Condition

The box is exceptionally well presented, with no noticeable damage or only very faint handling marks. Corners, edges and surfaces remain clean and tidy. Suitable for most box collectors.

7–8 | Good Condition

The box remains in good overall condition but may show light shelf wear, small scuffs, minor creasing or slight wear to corners and edges.

5–6 | Fair Condition

The box has noticeable wear, which may include dents, creases, scratches, worn corners or light crushing. The packaging remains intact but may not suit a box collector.

3–4 | Damaged Condition

The box has substantial visible damage, such as heavier crushing, deep creases, punctures, tears or significant surface wear. The condition of the contents and seals will be stated separately.

1–2 | Heavily Damaged Condition

The box is severely crushed, torn, punctured or otherwise heavily damaged. These sets are best suited to customers who are primarily interested in the building experience rather than the packaging.
